Stripes have a place in our wardrobe all-year round, but I find them particularly great for what can feel like a transitional time in dressing. I’m referring to that August through mid-September timeframe, where it doesn’t quite feel like Fall yet and in many places the weather is still very warm. Stripe pieces are wonderful to have in your closet (especially a capsule wardrobe) not only because of their classic aesthetic, but because they feel both summery and fall-ish making them the perfect pieces to wear effortlessly during this time.

I love any form and color of a stripe, but it’s the black and white (or cream) stripe pieces that I feel most represent what I’m talking about here. Today’s stripe tube top with white linen pants outfit is quintessentially a summer outfit from the style of top to the material of pant, yet I can wear this look well into August and September dressing for the weather I’ll be getting here in Miami (hot!) but not feel too summery and when the cooler weather rolls in I can easily add a denim jacket to this and have a perfect transitional look for the new season.
