PB&J Manhattan Cocktail Recipe

I love a classic drink. Give me an extra dirty martini, sidecar or manhattan. However, when I’m in the mood for something more unique or maybe I’ve come across a flavored liqueur that inspires me, I also love giving those classics a twist. And I tend to do so in the theme of the season, enter this PB&J Manhattan Cocktail.

PB&J’s remind me of summertime picnic and afternoon snacks. So, as a Manhattan cocktail fan having recently purchased the peanut butter flavored whiskey, Skrewball, I was inspired to create this PB&J Manhattan Cocktail recipe…garnished with a mini PB&J and all 😉

I prefer my manhattans with bourbon over rye whiskey and since this recipe uses both bourbon and Skrewball (which is more like a whiskey liqueur than actual whiskey, because the alcohol proof is lower than the whiskey minimum) I’m getting all of that delicious caramel goodness that I love.

While not overly sweet, I don’t like very sweet drinks and I can enjoy a couple of these back to back, this cocktail is sweet enough to serve as a dessert drink.

how could I not garnish the drink with a mini PB&J?

PB&J Manhattan Cocktail Recipe

Servings: 1

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey
  • .5 oz Chambord Liqueur (this acts as the “jelly”)
  • .5 oz Dry Vermouth
  • 1 oz Bourbon Whiskey, I used 4 Roses
  • 3 dashes chocolate bitters, can omit but they add a yummy warmth of spices

Directions:

In a cocktail mixing glass with ice, pour in all of the ingredients. Mix thoroughly. The key to these kind of classic cocktails is mixing really well and getting it real cold before pouring into your martini glass.

To make the mini PB&J sandwiches, simply make a regular sized PB&J sandwich, then cut out little squares from that. Poke a toothpick through it and make sure it sits high enough on it so that the sandwich does not get into the drink.
